Super cute backpack that is exactly the right size for everyday use. Perfect for storing the phone, glasses, sunglasses, Kindle, pen, packs of tissues etc. with room to spare for miscellaneous items. The video is super easy to follow. This is the fourth Popsewing top-leather bag I’ve made from a kit. Out of all of them, the video for this backpack has been the most detailed and easiest to follow. I don’t know the reason for that, but this video is the first I’ve watched which details, in an easy-to-understand way, how to create a saddle stitch (or “leap frog” stitch for many of us in North America). That is a huge plus for novices who may not know the best place to look online to look for instructions on how to create the stitch. The backpack comes together very quickly and I probably spent about 5 hours hand-stitching it. The quality of the leather is very good and the bottom of the bag is well stiffened. I really enjoyed the meditative process of stitching the bag and I love the final product.
Really enjoyed the process. All the pieces come pre-cut with stitching holes, so you mainly focus on assembling and hand stitching the bag together. It’s beginner friendly but still takes patience if you want the stitching to look neat.
The leather feels sturdy and the finished backpack actually looks like a proper bag, not just a craft project. Definitely a fun way to try leatherworking without needing special tools.
