While recycling is better than throwing away, it still is best to make something like a bag that can be used over and over again. The recycle leather bag kit idea came up with a creative friend (also our fan) who has a bunch of idle designer dustbags and fabric and want to give them reborn. She came to me, so the story begun.

Recycle your designer dustbag/fabric into a real bag in 8 easy steps
Step 1: Tools and Materials
There are several styles of DIY bag kits we can choose. Let's take the Jackie bag dustbag recycle DIY kit as an example. Basically, the dust bag DIY kit has included all necessary patterns and sewing kits. One thing you need to prepare is the dust bag or a fabric pattern that you like. Moreover, if you'd like to draw some unique patterns on the bag, the diy kit also includes plain fabrics which allow free painting. Following the tutorial video, let's dive into it!
Step 2: Sewing on the Lock
To get you clear of which pattern we are working on, we gave each piece a special number. The first thing is to sew the little strap and a lock on the big leather. As usual, we recommend using traditional two-needles saddle stitching for most of the bag kits. This traditional stitching is strong and will create beautiful weaves. To get know more about the saddle stitching, please read this blog: Basic Leather Sewing Methods - Time Saver.
Step 3: Cut out the Dust Bag in Shape and Stick It with Leather
Get the leather piece with a sticky side, carefully stick the designer dust bag or fabric pattern on the leather. Then we will use a scissor cut extra fabric. Leave the rustic edges for a while, we will use leather strap to wrap the edge to make it looks neat later.
Then use a pad gently scratching the surface until squeezing out all air bubbles.
You will also find three pieces of plain fabric in the dust bag recycle bag kit. These fabric patterns have been well-cut in shape. If you want some unique pattens, try to draw them on these plain fabrics!
Step 4: Sew on the Other Part of Snap Lock
Stitching the other part of lock on the leather. Notice that the snap button should be right above the leather.
Step 5: Sew the Inner Pocket
This pocket is pretty easy to sew, try to get your seams looks straight and professional.
Step 6: Sew on Two Buckles with Leather
Step 7: Assemble the Bottom Part of the Bag
Step 8: Assemble Two Shoulder Ears and the Strap
